Killzone 2 demo review

Posted in PS3, Reviews with tags , , , on February 11, 2009 by TehBolt

Yes that’s right a demo review. With all the hype surrounding this game I figured even the demo deserves some pre launch love.

Loved:

  1. Graphics, not quite that famous E3 trailer but good enough
  2. Controls, the guns feel like they have some weight to them.
  3. AI, it wants to kill you just as bad as you want to kill it. Damn it all!
  4. Load screens, by far the best use of the si-axis controller yet!

Hated:

  1. The controls as much as i love the weighted feel, it makes me think I’m under water at times.
  2. The game is not out yet.

All in all I’m pretty impressed with this demo, there is a love hate with the controls for me but other than that I’m looking forward to one hell of a shooter experience come launch day.

It’s been awhile since this site was updated. Hell for the most part we gave up. No one had any sort of dedication, it was hard to do reviews do largely impart to real life callings. Well as of right now we are back. Back with a new format, lots of videos made by us, a new “Based on our opinion” review system, and lots of gaming news and discussion.

Stay tuned if you still read. Things are about  to get very interesting indeed

So you want your in game XMB

Posted in News, PS3 with tags , , , , on June 30, 2008 by TehBolt

The wait is almost over friends. Wednesday comes the highly anticipated firmware update 2.40 for the PS3. Included in this update is of course the ability to access your XMB while in game, simply press the PSbutton to bring it up.  Also included is the Trophy system, similar to the Xbox 360′s achievements.  Here is a list of supported games as of now.

  • Super Stardust HD
  • BUZZ! Quiz TV
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • MotorStorm Pacific Rift
  • NBA 09 – PS3
  • PAIN
  • PixelJunk Eden
  • Resistance 2
  • SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation
  • Warhawk

The trophy system WILL NOT apply to old save games, you will have to replay them if you want the trophy’s. There is good reasoning for this, all one would have to do is download a save game and get all the trophy’s with out any work. Expect a full right up and review of the biggest firmware update for the PS3 yet, when it becomes available.

Call of Duty: World at War

Posted in News with tags , , on June 28, 2008 by jetticus

Yes, you read that right, a brand new Call of Duty game.  No, it’s not Call of Duty 5.  And, no, it’s not being developed by Infinity Ward, but rather Treyarch, the guys behind Call of Duty 3.  And yes, it’s being built using the Call of Duty 4 engine.  A big topic for fans of the CoD series is that this game is being set back in World War II.  So far, early impresions of the game (at least, the single player campaign) are that the game is visually stunning, though not as much as CoD 4, and it seems to be pretty brutal.  Not much info on the multiplayer front, but Treyarch would do well to realize that they are stepping up to an enormous bar with both a single and multiplayer experience coming off of the heels of CoD 4.  Look for more information here at NoNameGaming as it becomes available.
